The Couple

As a St. Louis wedding photographer, I have the joy of capturing love stories that are nothing short of magical. A few weeks ago I shot Kaitlynn and Reid’s December wedding at the breathtaking Main Street Abbey in Columbia, Illinois, and it was one of those unforgettable weddings I’ve ever had. The rainy sky created a dreamy, romantic atmosphere to their celebration. Most people think they would dread “bad weather” on their big day, but I always tell my couples, rain on your wedding day is not just good luck—it creates stunning, unique photos, and it adds another flavor to your day that you’ll remember forever.

Kaitlynn and Reid embraced every moment together, their love radiating through every glance, like something out of a movie. Their two adorable daughters by their side made the day even more special.

The Venue

Main Street Abbey is one of the most incredible wedding venues near St. Louis. The drive to the venue takes you through a bunch of cute little towns and really builds up the very warm feeling that the venue provides. There were so many beautiful areas for pictures like a patio for large wedding parties, a private bridal suite, and a private grooms room. Alongside the beautiful venue, there’s also a hotel right across the street for out of state guest can stay called the Principal Hotel , which is so amazing for out of town guest.

The First Look

Kaitlynn and Reid had to get creative with their first look since the rain was pouring and the main room for the ceremony doesn’t open until 3pm. To give them the best experience I rearranged a spot for there first look in the getting ready room. Kaitlynn and Reid made their first look more personable by letting their friends and family watch and listen in from the hallway, which was beautiful. Although it may not be traditional, that’s what makes it unique and beautiful to you and those you choose to share your special day with! There isn’t a guide book or a set of rules for what needs to happen on your wedding day, so plan it how you want! There’s nothing forcing anyone into tradition, so do what makes you happy on your special day!

Couples Kind Words

Rainy weddings hold a special place in my heart. The soft light and reflections make for unforgettable photos. Despite the rain, Kaitlynn stayed positive and trusted the process. The next day, she sent me the sweetest message:

“Thank you for your patience, positive energy, and professionalism that made my day even more special! Even when the rain started to get me down, you reassured me it would all still turn out just fine. I cannot wait to see the beautiful photos you captured!”

Message they sent when gallery was delivered 🙂

“Chloe was so wonderful to work with. She was kind, patient and professional. She captured so many beautiful candid photographs that really shows all the love and joy that was around us on our wedding day!”

Moments like this remind me why I love what I do—being there for my couples and creating memories they’ll cherish forever
