Trying to decide where to take wedding photos in St. Louis? Here are a few of the most beautiful locations for portraits, whether you want something elegant, natural, or a city vibe.
Where to Take St. Louis Wedding Photos
St. Louis is such an underrated city for wedding photos because you really get a little bit of everything here. Between the historic architecture, big parks, gardens, waterfront views, and quiet neighborhoods tucked throughout the city, there are so many different backdrops to choose from, or choose multiple to add plenty of variety to your gallery. Whether you’re drawn to something elegant and classic, more natural and outdoorsy, or even a modern city vibe, St. Louis has no shortage of beautiful locations that photograph so well throughout every season of the year.\

Missouri Botanical Garden
Missouri Botanical Garden is easily one of the most beautiful places in St. Louis for wedding photos, especially if you want something timeless and romantic. There are so many different areas throughout the gardens that all photograph completely differently, with beautiful greenery, trees, fountains, and more unique spots. It feels peaceful even though you’re right in the middle of the city, and the variety makes it easy to get a full gallery of photos without everything looking the same.
One of the best parts about taking wedding photos here is how pretty it is during every season. Spring and summer are obviously incredible when everything is blooming, but even fall brings so much color throughout the grounds. The light here is also really beautiful, especially later in the evening when the sun filters through the trees and gardens. It’s one of those locations that naturally makes photos feel elegant without needing a ton of extra styling or effort.
Forest Park
Forest Park is one of those places that works for almost any style of wedding photos because there’s just so much variety throughout the park. You can get elegant architecture near the Art Museum, softer nature-filled areas around the water, open grassy spaces, wooded trails, and even skyline views all within a pretty short distance. It’s such an easy location to make your gallery feel diverse without having to drive all over the city.
The whole area has a very classic St. Louis feel to it, and it photographs beautifully in every season. Summer is lush and green, fall colors are incredible, and even winter can feel really clean and timeless around the museum and pathways. This spot feels natural and true to the beauty of St. Louis!

The Lalmondiere Mill & Gardens
The Lalumondiere Mill & Rivergardens feels like one of St. Louis’ hidden gems for wedding photos. The whole property has such a quiet, romantic feel to it with the gardens, stone pathways, river views, and old-world architecture tucked throughout the grounds. It almost feels like you stepped somewhere completely outside the city, which makes it such a unique spot for portraits.
What makes this location especially beautiful is how naturally elegant everything feels. There’s so much texture and variety around the property, from greenery and flowers to the historic stonework and water nearby. The grounds also photograph beautifully during golden hour when the light starts coming through the trees and across the river.

Lafayette Square
Lafayette Square is such a beautiful spot for wedding photos if you love a more historic and romantic feel. The park itself has gorgeous trees, little bridges, walking paths, and a lake, but what really makes this area special are the surrounding streets and homes. The old brick houses, iron fences, and classic architecture give the whole neighborhood so much character without feeling overly formal.
You can easily mix greenery and park photos with more city-inspired backdrops just by walking a few blocks. Lafayette Park works especially well for couples wanting wedding photos that feel elegant and classic while still keeping a relaxed, natural vibe.

Gateway Arch National Park
Gateway Arch National Park feels so different from a lot of the greener park locations around St. Louis. The open space, riverfront paths, skyline views, and the Arch in the background give everything a really clean and classic city feel without being too busy or overwhelming. It’s one of those places that instantly feels like St. Louis in the best way.
What’s nice about photos here is how easy the area is to move around. You can get big scenic shots with the skyline, then turn around and find quieter spots near the river or walkways that feel a little more relaxed and candid. The light down there is especially pretty later in the day, and the whole area tends to photograph really beautifully without needing much.
Tower Grove Park
Tower Grove Park has such a cozy, tucked-away feel to it that makes wedding photos here feel really personal and relaxed. The park is full of winding paths, huge mature trees, little stone features, and historic pavilions that give the whole area a ton of character. It’s the kind of place where you can just wander around and keep finding pretty little pockets for photos the entire time.
The shade from the trees and all the natural texture throughout the park photograph so beautifully, especially in late summer and fall. It also tends to feel quieter than some of the bigger St. Louis locations, which makes it easier to slow down and get more candid, natural moments throughout your photos.

August A. Busch Conservation
August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area is such a good option for wedding photos if you want something that feels quiet, outdoorsy, and a little more untouched compared to some of the city locations around St. Louis. The area has lakes, tall grass fields, wooded trails, and wide open scenery that gives photos a really peaceful and natural feel. It’s especially beautiful for couples who love being outside and want their photos to feel less formal and more like a relaxed evening out together.
One of the best parts about this area is how much the scenery changes throughout the seasons. In the summer everything feels really green and alive, while fall brings some incredible color through the trees and trails. Because the conservation area is so spread out, it also never feels crowded, which makes it easy to take your time and settle into the moment instead of rushing from spot to spot.
When to Take Wedding Photos in St. Louis
Deciding when you want to plan your wedding day all depends on the vibe you want for your photos! Here’s what each season looks like in St. Louis.
Spring
Spring in St. Louis is full of fresh flowers and the perfect weather that makes you want to just enjoy the outdoors. Everything comes back to life with the trees turning green again and all the vibrant colors, which makes it such an ideal time for engagement photos! This is especially the case if you want more of those natural backdrops and want a more dreamy, romantic vibe to your photos.
Summer
Summer means longer days and some pretty beautiful sunsets, but it also means it can bring along the heat as well. For this time of year, it’s a better idea to choose a early morning or evening session to avoid the heat and have a more enjoyable session. Locations within downtown are extra fun this time of year and you can celebrate afterwards at one of the many incredible restaurants!
Fall
Fall in St. Louis has to be my favorite time of year with all of the autumn hues coming out, which makes a pretty incredible background for photos. There are a lot of locations around the area that really shine this time of year, and if you want that cozy, warm feel to your photos, this is the time of year to plan your wedding day!
Winter
Winters in St. Louis are a bit more mild, with just the occasional snow covering the area. It is still a less ideal time to be outdoors, but if the idea of a snowy, chilly session is up your alley, there are plenty of spots around the city to choose from. Winter does create a pretty romantic and intimate atmosphere for a wedding!
