St. Louis Engagement Photos
St. Louis is a place filled with historical landmarks, gorgeous parks, and some really dreamy backdrops for engagement photos. There’s uniquely stunning architecture and beautiful greenery, which makes it pretty romantic and ideal for a session. Here you can have both a modern, city vibe or a more peaceful, natural setting. St. Louis really has it all!

St. Louis Engagement Photos Locations
St. Louis is home to so many stunning locations where you can capture you and your partner’s engagement photos with the perfect backdrop. Here are a few of my favorites!
August A. Busch. Memorial Conservation Area
August A. Busch Conservation Area in St. Louis is definitely a favorite location of mine for engagement photos. Covering over 6,000 acres of natural beauty, it’s filled with gorgeous quiet lakes, plenty of open fields, and tree-lined trails, which makes a pretty stunning backdrop for photos! It gives you an outdoorsy, peaceful vibe with the convenience of never having to leave the city.
The light here, especially in the early morning or during golden hour, is especially dreamy and the ideal time to visit here! Because it covers such a large area, this also means it’s not usually crowded so it’s pretty easy to have a space to yourself for your session. This spot is especially stunning in the fall and the spring, so I’d recommend one of these seasons if you’re flexible!

Public Library
The St. Louis Library is a location that feels timeless, as well as elegant, making it the perfect choice for engagement photos here in St. Louis! It has a very classic, romantic vibe with the beautiful architectural details, the grand marble staircases, and the stunning natural light. You can capture photos outside with it’s iconic exterior, or inside with the gorgeous bookshelves. No matter what you’re sure to have stunning photos here!

Forest Park

Klondike Park
Klondike Park sits just outside of St. Louis in St. Charles County and is definitely a hidden gem! It has this unique blend of beach and outdoorsy vibes with the beautiful lake and the bright white sand, which makes such a great backdrop for a session! You can hang out along the water or use one of the many walking trails and capture photos along the way. There’s even an overlook that is extra gorgeous at golden hour!

Lalumondiere Mill and Rivergardens
Lalumondiere Mill and Rivergardens is absoluely magical and honestly feels as if you’ve stepped into a storybook. I’m obsessed with the views of the river and the romantic, lush gardens, which are so much fun to explore with your person! There are so many charming spots around the property, and especially the birdcage structure that makes for some breathtaking photos. There’s so much natural beauty here, as well as variety in your backdrops, making it such a perfect place to plan your engagement photos!

When to Take Engagement Photos in St. Louis
Deciding when you want to do your engagement session all depends on the vibe you want for your photos! Here’s what each season looks like in St. Louis.
Spring
Spring in St. Louis is full of fresh flowers and the perfect weather that makes you want to just enjoy the outdoors. Everything comes back to life with the trees turning green again and all the vibrant colors, which makes it such an ideal time for engagement photos! This is especially the case if you want more of those natural backdrops and want a more dreamy, romantic vibe to your photos.
Summer
Summer means longer days and some pretty beautiful sunsets, but it also means it can bring along the heat as well. For this time of year, it’s a better idea to choose a early morning or evening session to avoid the heat and have a more enjoyable session. Locations within downtown are extra fun this time of year and you can celebrate afterwards at one of the many incredible restaurants!
Fall
Fall in St. Louis has to be my favorite time of year with all of the autumn hues coming out, which makes a pretty incredible background for photos. There are a lot of locations around the area that really shine this time of year, and if you want that cozy, warm feel to your photos, this is the time of year to plan your session!
Winter
Winters in St. Louis are a bit more mild, with just the occasional snow covering the area. It is still a less ideal time to be outdoors, but if the idea of a snowy, chilly session is up your alley, there are plenty of spots around the city to choose from. Winter does create a pretty romantic and intimate atmosphere for a session!

What to Wear for Engagement Photos in St. Louis
What you wear for your engagement session can definitely change the vibe of your photos. Neutrals like beige, white, or soft pastels always look great and keep things simple and timeless. Flowy dresses or skirts add a nice touch of movement, and for guys, a button-up and jeans always look put together without trying too hard. Try to skip bold patterns or super bright colors so the focus stays on you two.
If you’re doing winter photos, layering up with cute coats, scarves, or boots adds that cozy feel. Think about the spot you’re shooting at when you’re choosing outfits though, something dressy works great for city vibes, while casual clothes fit right in at a park or trail. Most of all, wear something that feels like you and makes you feel confident!
